India's Earth observation satellite fails following a successful lift off

The India Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in eastern India on Thursday.

The GSLV rocket was expected to place the EOS-03 satellite into a preliminary transfer orbit with the objective to provide real-time imaging, monitor natural disasters and crop health, according to Space.com. The mission has failed due to "an anomaly with the third stage" and will not be "accomplished fully," according to a statement issued by ISRO officials.

The best of journalism is shrinking, yielding to the crude prime-time spectacle. My digital news .in  has very few young reporters, columnists and editors working for it. Sustaining journalism of this quality needs smart and thinking people like you to pay for it. Whether you live in India or overseas, you can do it here
